New York, NY (Law Firm Newswire) April 3, 2014 – Zamansky LLC announces that it is investigating the legal rights of General Motors’ (GM) car owners over its recent recalls due to safety concerns. Since February 2014, GM has announced the recall of over 2.6 million cars due to ignition switch defects. The defects have allegedly caused several deaths.
The cars involved are the following:
- 2005 – 2010 Cobalts
- 2006 – 2010 Pontiac Solstices
- 2007 – 2010 Pontiac G5s
- 2007 – 2010 Saturn Skys
- 2006 – 2011 Chevrolet HHRs
- 2003 – 2007 Saturn Ions
According to news reports, GM’s engineers first noticed the problem in 2004 but rejected proposed fixes due, in part, to cost concerns. Lawsuits have been filed on behalf of car owners in California, Florida and Illinois. The investigation concerns GM car owners in states where lawsuits have not yet been filed to protect consumers.
