Southfield, MI (Law Firm Newswire) March 8, 2017 – A young baby died at a home day care facility after being left unsupervised.

An Illinois daycare owner/operator faces a wrongful death lawsuit for allegedly leaving a 3 1/2-month-old baby alone while the attendant went to warm a bottle. The child died November 15, 2016 at a privately owned daycare that had 20 young children under the age of 5 in its care.

At the time of the child’s death, one of the daycare owners was single-handedly attempting to supervise all 20 children, according to court documents. This was in violation of the Illinois Licensing Standards for Day Care Homes, which mandates one adult for every four infants. This means that the daycare should have had four attendants on duty at the time of the baby’s death.

The owner said that he placed the little girl on her stomach on a blanket while he went to get a bottle. He said that he was gone at least 30 minutes, and when he returned with the bottle, the baby was not breathing. Not wanting this kind of tragedy to happen to another family, the baby’s parents filed a wrongful death lawsuit.

Litigating a wrongful death lawsuit can take years before a settlement may be reached. The last thing the parents in this case would need is to worry about is their financial situation. If they are in need of financial assistance, a viable option to consider may be applying for pre-settlement lawsuit funding. This is non-recourse funding that arrives within 24 to 48 hours and may be used to pay monthly living expenses and medical bills.

Credit or employment checks are not required and there are no monthly payments to make. Funding is solely based on the merits and strength of a particular case. If the plaintiff does not win the lawsuit or succeed in settling the claim, repayment of the pre-settlement funding is completely waived.
