Drunken Driver Mysteriously Shot to Death

Austin, TX (Law Firm Newswire) February 28 , 2013 – Someone mysteriously shot a suspected drunken driver to death. Ruled a murder, the police are still investigating the accident.

This is where the story gets strange. The night of the accident, the police found the 20-year-old drunken driver shot to death at the scene of the accident. Detectives called to the scene called it murder, but they had not had a chance to interview the injured father, or the mother, who was in the truck at the time her family was run over.

The gun used to kill the driver was nowhere to be found, but since the father was injured, he was taken directly to hospital. There was no mention of gunshot residue tests being conducted on the father or the mother. It was speculated that any forensic testing would be done later.

According to neighbors in the area, who heard the impact of the crash, they also heard two gunshots minutes after the collision, which was about 50 yards from the victim’s home. Police did call for blood tests on the shooting victim, to confirm whether or not he had been drinking.

In a situation such as this, the family of the deceased boys should be able to file a wrongful death lawsuit against the estate of the drunken driver. “However, there is the matter of who killed the man after the accident. This may affect who files the lawsuit, should it turn out that the father or mother pulled the trigger on the driver. In either event, the family is entitled to compensation for their medical expenses and funeral and burial expenses,” said Lee.
