Southfield, MI (Law Firm Newswire) June 4, 2013 – A bus driver involved in a recent crash has a record for a prior fatal accident involving another bus accident.

“While it may not be relevant to the current bus accident, a 65-year-old bus driver was also involved in a similar accident 15 years ago. The latest accident, on a North Texas highway, left two dead and many injured. The vehicle strayed across the highway and rammed into the center median. There were 46 occupants on board at the time,” outlined Darren Monroe of Litigation Funding Corporation, Michigan.

No one seems to know why the driver veered across the highway and the police have indicated they plan to dig deeper into the details of this case, in light of the fact that the driver had been considered and sued for being negligent in the first accident he was involved in that killed a man. Evidently, in 1998, he hit and killed a good Samaritan who was helping at the scene of an accident just outside of Dallas.

At that time, a grand jury did not indict the driver for negligent homicide, but the man and his employer were sued civilly. A jury found the company was negligent in hiring the driver, who allegedly was incompetent and unfit to drive. There were no damages awarded in that lawsuit, as the court deemed the dead man was mostly at fault for his own death. “A second civil lawsuit, filed by a passenger on the bus in 1998, made similar allegations. His suit was settled out of court,” said Monroe.

The people killed and injured in this latest bus accident will want to consult with legal counsel about their rights and what options they have open to them. Those with medical bills to pay will want to know if they may obtain compensation from the driver, and the families of the two dead will likely wish to file a wrongful death lawsuit.

In the meantime, they will all be facing extraordinary expenses and may be hard pressed to pay them in addition to their own usual financial obligations. If they choose to apply for pre-settlement funding, which is also referred to as a lawsuit loan, they would be able to pay off all of their bills and have some left over to wait until their case(s) were settled or dealt with in court.

An applicant/plaintiff, only needs to fill out an application for a lawsuit loan by outlining the nature of their case with the help of their lawyer. Once that application is approved, the pre-settlement funding is sent directly to their bank account within 24-48 hours. “It’s that fast, because we know a plaintiff is usually in dire financial straits by the time they apply for a lawsuit cash advance,” Monroe added.
