Southfield, MI (Law Firm Newswire) June 11, 2013 – An 18-year-old prescription drug abuser rammed his car into a Las Vegas restaurant. Ten were seriously injured.

“This was an accident that just about brought one side of the restaurant down into a heap of rubble,” said Darren Monroe of Litigation Funding Corporation, Michigan. “The force of the impact to the building at the Egg & I restaurant crumpled a main support beam. Things were touch and go while the area was being cordoned off and cleaned up.”

It turns out the driver who slammed into the side of the building had been speeding and driving under the influence of drugs. He was ultimately charged with six felonies; crimes that could net him up to 80 years in prison. When police arrested him, after eye witnesses wrestled him to the ground as he attempted to leave the scene of the wreck, they discovered he had more than three times the limit of pot (cannabis) in his blood, mixed with Xanax. At the man’s bail hearing, the judge declined to reduce his $500,000 bail.

According to the police report, the man was driving a 1993 Lexus at a high rate of speed, moved into a turn lane, vaulted over the median and ended up in front of oncoming traffic. His vehicle was hit by a truck and another car, before crashing into the wall of the restaurant. On the spot restaurant patrons helped pull injured people out from under the car. There were ten people who sustained serious injuries, including broken bones, spinal fractures, a collapsed lung and arm and shoulder fractures.

Witnesses told police that even when the car came to an abrupt halt, precariously balancing on a lawn chair, the motor was still revving at high speed.

It is a good bet that the injured in this case will want to speak to personal injury attorneys about their injuries and how they may obtain compensation to assist them in paying not only their medical bills, but to make up for any lost wages and time off work while recovering. For the injured parties to be able to cope financially with their daily and monthly living expenses and their medical bills, they would be best served by applying for litigation funding.

Litigation funding, also referred to as a lawsuit cash advance, is given to a qualified plaintiff who has applied for pre-settlement funding. The plaintiff does not need to have a job, pay any money up front, go through a credit check or have to settle with any insurance companies harassing them to settle quickly and cheaply. “The point of litigation funding is to provide cash strapped plaintiffs with a lawsuit loan to pay their bills right away, so they can focus on healing, instead of fighting for justice,” added Monroe.
