Waxahachie, TX (Law Firm Newswire) September 30, 2013 – Four people were injured on Houston’s most dangerous roadway when a motorcyclist hit several pedestrians near Allen Parkway.

The motorcycle rider allegedly lost control of his vehicle, which jumped a curb and landed on the sidewalk, where it struck two pedestrians.

Though the accident was not fatal, the rider, his passenger and the two pedestrians who were struck were all injured and brought to an area hospital. The rider and his passenger were later reported to be in stable condition, while the pedestrians were reported to have sustained serious injuries.

“Allen Parkway has been the site of numerous accidents, such as the one in May of 2013,” commented Waxahachie personal injury lawyer John Hale. “Reportedly, the driver of a Hummer, traveling well above the posted speed limit, lost control of his vehicle, flipping the Hummer while approaching a sharp turn, crashing into a tree and flipping over several times.” The driver died at the scene; his passenger sustained minor injuries.

According to statistics from the Texas Department of Transportation, more automobiles and motorcycles are travelling Texas roadways every year, as new drivers obtain their driver’s license. With an increase in the number of vehicles on the roads comes more accidents.

“Reckless driving is believed to be the major cause of at least 33 percent of all car-accident related fatalities,” said Hale. As many as 6 million car accidents happen per year in the U.S. Accidents occur due to a number of reasons, including: driver error, distractions such as texting or talking on the cellphone, reckless driving, driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol or fatigue. As many as 3 million people are injured every year in car accidents; approximately 2 million of which are permanently injured or disabled as a result of an accident.

More than 40,000 people died last year in the U.S. due to driving accidents on the nation’s roadways; at least 40 percent of those fatalities involved alcohol consumption, and 50 percent were due to excessive speed.

Individuals who have sustained personal injury due an automobile or motorcycle accident should contact Waxahachie personal injury attorney, John Hale, to discuss their legal options.
