Veterans Disability Attorney James Fausone Comments On Health Coverage for Vets

Northville, MI (Law Firm Newswire) November 5, 2013 – There is a new awareness campaign launched by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to inform veterans about the changes the Affordable Care Act (ACA) will bring to them and their families.

According to information on the new website, www.va.gov/aca, vets who are receiving their health care from the Department of Veterans Affairs will not have a change in their out-of-pocket costs or in their level of benefits when they are covered via the Act. Veterans interested in VA health care can use a “Health Benefits Explorer” tool to see what benefits are available to them if they enroll. They can call 1-877-222-VETS (8387), Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. or Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Eastern Time or use the website link provided above.

“More than 1.3 million vets and more than 950,000 family members of veterans are currently living without health insurance, though most of the uninsured vets are actually eligible for health care through Veterans Administration,” commented veterans disability attorney James Fausone. “The VA is encouraging a heightened public awareness of the health services they offer in an attempt to inform those uninsured veterans that they can enroll.”

Veterans who are not enrolled in VA healthcare are invited to partake of the services provided by Veterans Affairs. The VA offers specialty care, primary care, physical therapy, advanced prosthetic services, mental health services, short-term rehab, long-term care, transportation and health promotion education for veterans.

Veterans Affairs offers health care for vets with no monthly premiums, no deductible and no enrollment fee. While many vets see no out-of-pockets costs, there may, in some cases, be a small copay for some prescription drugs and some health care. Veterans who are already enrolled in health services provided by Veterans Affairs do not need to do anything further to ensure health care coverage through the Affordable Care Act.
