Hit And Run Driver Seriously Injures Man And His Family

Austin, TX (Law Firm Newswire) January 7, 2014 – The hit and run driver in this case had a history of sideswiping other vehicles and other moving violations.

“The victims in this car accident were on I295 when a Toyota Corolla sideswiped them, propelling them into the median strip. The woman driving the Corolla did not remain at the scene of the accident. She told police she did not know she had hit anyone and it was not until she stopped to pick up something at a store that she noticed her damaged car. “This pushes the limits of credibility,” said Schuelke, “to think someone could sideswipe another car and not feel the jarring impact.”

The 44-year-old woman was proven to have a long history of various traffic violations, including driving an unregistered vehicle, operating a vehicle after license suspension, failure to wear a seat belt and driving an unregistered vehicle. She had also been stopped for driving 85-mph in a 65-mph zone in April 2012 and ticketed for doing 42-mph in a 25-mph zone and 55-mph in an area designated as 40-mph. She has two prior citations for sideswiping vehicles. Neither of those accidents resulted in injuries to the other drivers.

“In this accident, an eyewitness took down the license plate number of the Corolla, and handed it to the police. She was located shortly thereafter and charged with two misdemeanors – failing to report the accident and leaving the scene. On receiving her citations, she suggested the injured Saturn driver was to blame for the accident, because he was driving too slowly in the passing lane,” said Schuelke.

Whatever the real story behind this accident, the facts tell another tale, corroborated by eyewitnesses. The lady was in a hurry to pass. There were no other vehicles around, and she was hanging in very close to the Saturn and weaving back and forth. She did not stop at the accident scene to render aid.
