California Divorce Mediators Launches New Website for Divorcing Couples

Orange County, CA (Law Firm Newswire) September 16, 2014 - California Divorce Mediators, formerly Orange County Divorce Mediators, has launched a new website dedicated to helping divorcing couples gain a better understanding of divorce mediation.

“We want to help families find ways to reduce the cost of divorce and to avoid the damaging conflicts created by traditional litigated divorce,” remarked Gerald Maggio, founder of California Divorce Mediators. “Many divorcing parties are not very knowledgeable about divorce mediation, and that is one reason we have created this website.”

Private divorce mediation is a process whereby divorcing parties work with a court-approved mediator to take private control of the divorce outcome -- creating agreements about asset division, support and custody issues, rather than leaving them up to the court. Because the process involves a single mediator and avoids hours of time charged by two lawyers during ongoing court hearings, divorce mediation is generally far less expensive than traditional litigated divorce.

The cost of divorce is often a crucial consideration for families without unlimited financial resources. The new website, focused on an array of mediation alternatives, helps families examine ways to divorce that will not drain savings accounts and college funds.

The website also provides articles and resources on a number of divorce topics, from ways to reduce conflict to practical advice on shared custody.

“This website is all about helping divorcing couples breathe easier,” said Maggio. “Many times, the beginning of a divorce is tense because nasty litigation can lead to a future filled with debt and negativity. We want to ease that tension by helping families explore the option of a lower-cost divorce that provides better value on every level.”
