Virginia Beach, VA (Law Firm Newswire) September 25, 2014 – On Saturday, September 27, 2014, the Hook Law Center will hold a free "Shred Day" event that will also be used to raise awareness and funds for the fight against Alzheimer’s disease.

Members of the public can bring old documents and records to the Hook Law Center in Virginia Beach, where they will be securely shredded on-site.

During the event, the Hook Law Center will accept donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, and its legal team will invite anyone who is interested to join the Hook Law Center Walk Team for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

“We’re hoping for a big turnout,” said Andrew Hook, president of Hook Law Center. “The Shred Day itself is important, because identity theft is on the rise. But the event is also dedicated to a vital cause -- the fight against Alzheimer’s -- which affects so many people.”

The event will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. There is no document limit, so individuals can bring as few or as many documents as they have. Identity theft experts at MSN Money recommend that everyone shred old bank statements, credit card offers, pay stubs, photo IDs, canceled checks and canceled credit cards.

Documents will be confidentially shredded on-site by Stealth Shredding, a leading document security and destruction company. The event is free to everyone.

Those unable to attend the Shred Day can still join the Hook Law Center Walk Team for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s by calling the office to request information. The Virginia Beach Walk to End Alzheimer’s will take place on Sunday, October 12, 2014.
