The Heroes Project Prepares Amputee Veterans to Conquer the World’s Tallest Peaks

Northville, MI (Law Firm Newswire) February 10, 2015 – On March 28, 2015, a group of veteran amputees from The Heroes Project will depart the United States for Nepal with the goal of scaling the world’s tallest mountain: Mount Everest.

The journey to Nepal marks the group’s final climb to complete the Seven Summits project, a quest to climb the tallest mountains on each of the seven continents.

“This project is inspiring not only for amputee veterans, but for all veterans with physical and emotional scars of service,” commented Jim Fausone, a Michigan veterans disability attorney. “It demonstrates that given the opportunity, our veterans can overcome enormous odds to achieve incredible things.”

The founder of The Heroes Project, Tim Medvetz, is a former Hell’s Angel who overcame a devastating motorcycle accident that left him partially paralyzed and with major medical issues. To overcome the trauma, Medvetz resolved to climb Mount Everest despite his physical disabilities. Once he did, he wanted to share the experience with others. Medvetz felt that like him, wounded veterans could experience renewal and regain a sense of personal strength by completing such a momentous challenge.

Today, The Heroes Project provides support and training to injured veterans who wish to learn to climb. The project also raises support and awareness for local and national programs for veterans.
