Briskman Briskman & Greenberg Announces Winner of Scholarship for Accident Survivors

Chicago, IL (Law Firm Newswire) November 19, 2015 – A prominent Chicago personal injury law firm has announced the winner of a scholarship for accident survivors who are entering or enrolled in law school or college.

Michelle Eikill of Jacksonville, Florida is the winner of the Briskman Briskman & Greenberg Accident Survivor Scholarship.

“We established this scholarship to help people like Michelle,” said Paul Greenberg, an attorney with Briskman Briskman & Greenberg.

The University of North Florida student wrote an essay describing her struggle to persevere after a life-changing car accident. In January, Eikill was driving home from work when she saw that a car had crashed off the side of a highway exit. Eikill and her boyfriend stopped to help, but they were struck by another vehicle. Eikill’s boyfriend and the other driver were killed, and Eikill suffered serious injuries that required a month of hospitalization and rehabilitation, and three months in a wheelchair. Eikill continures to suffer the effects of her injuries, but has found the strength to push on and re-enroll in college courses.

“I have had to look inside of myself during these hard times and somehow find the strength to push through,” Eikill wrote. “I have learned that I am a strong person and I have the ability to persevere and succeed.”

Greenberg said that the family-owned law firm wanted to help injured young people get their lives back on track. The scholarship is awarded on an annual basis to a student entering or enrolled in law school or college who has overcome major injuries from an accident caused by another person’s negligence.

“Our work has brought us in touch with so many individuals and families who have been forced to deal with devastating injuries, but have found the inner strength to carry on and build a better future for themselves,” said Greenberg. “We wanted to make a contribution toward helping young people like Michelle rebuild their lives.”
