San Francisco, CA (Law Firm Newswire) May 10, 2016 – Michael Gilfix and Mark Gilfix of Gilfix & La Poll Associates, in partnership with Trusts and Estates Magazine, will present an informative seminar titled “The Benefits of Multigenerational Planning” on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at 2 p.m. ET and 11 a.m. PT.

The webinar is free and is available nationwide. The seminar will cover key issues for lawyers engaged in the practice of multigenerational planning. Michael Gilfix and Mark Gilfix will share their experience as a father-son team of estate planning attorneys.

Multigenerational planning provides an innovative way for parents, children and grandchildren to actively participate in planning. The approach fosters cooperation between family members. “We want to change the paradigm for estate planning. It is important to understand how the hopes and goals of each generation are likely to play a role in planning,” said nationally known estate planning attorney Michael Gilfix. “While grandparents may be concerned about asset preservation, the younger generation may prioritize long term care for their elders.

Considering estate planning in a multigenerational context helps bring families together in order to preserve family assets and to provide the best possible care for parents. The seminar will include topics such as complying with ethical rules, keeping up with responsibilities to clients, adapting the family office approach for middle class families, and helping families with long-term care and asset protection, as well as with building multigenerational relationships.

The National Association of Estate Planners & Councils has approved the seminar for one CE credit hour for the AEP® designation program. In addition, the Investment Management Consultants Association has accepted it for one CE credit hour towards the CIMA®, CIMC® and CPWA® certifications. The seminar is being presented by Trusts & Estates in partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Michael Gilfix and Mark Gilfix last year co-authored an article titled “A New Paradigm: Truly Multigenerational Planning” in Trusts & Estates magazine. They have also shared their expertise on multigenerational planning in the book “Facing the Reality of Long Term Care.”
