Attorney Jason Chalik Comments on Car Accident that Took Life of Nova Southeastern University Baseball Player

Miami, FL (Law Firm Newswire) December 21, 2016 – A car crash early on December 18 took the life of a Nova Southeastern University baseball player.

Dallas Perez , 21, was killed when the car he was driving on Interstate 75 came into contact with another vehicle and then traveled down an embankment, crashed into an underpass and burst into flames. The accident took place on I-75 near Pembroke Pines, between Sheridan Street and Griffin Road, at about 5:30 a.m. The driver of the other vehicle was uninjured.

Safety experts say that vehicle fires are not normally caused by collisions. According to data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, fires occur in only 0.3 percent of all collisions. However, crashes involving fire account for 3 percent of all fatal car accidents.

Perez was a sophomore majoring in finance, and part of NSU’s 2016 national championship baseball team. Director of Athletics Michael Mominey said that Perez represented what NSU athletics is all about and the “entire Sharks family” was shocked and saddened by the news of his death.
