Southfield, MI (Law Firm Newswire) May 2, 2017 – A 16-year-old teen referred for secondary inspection at a U.S. border crossing died after drinking liquid methamphetamine.

This case involves a Tijuana teen, referred for secondary inspection at the San Ysidro border crossing in 2013, who died after taking four sips of liquid meth that he was carrying in his backpack.

The young man was referred to secondary inspection due his fast speech and nervous behavior. When questioned by two U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers, he indicated the liquid was apple juice. The agents told the teen to drink the liquid to prove it was apple juice. He drank four sips and ended up in the emergency room at a local hospital. He died as a result of a meth overdose.

At the time of his death, the high school student did not have a previous criminal record. It was suspected that he was paid the going rate of $100 or $200, to get the drug across the border. An agreement was ultimately reached in this alleged assault and battery, wrongful death case for a settlement of $1 million to the teen’s family. The CBP officers are still working at the border crossing.

Family members of the deceased usually file a wrongful death lawsuit and although nothing can bring a loved one back, or heal the pain, bringing justice to those responsible can help bring peace of mind to the family.

Litigation Funding Corporation realizes that the litigation process in a wrongful death lawsuit can take years to settle. Victims may be dealing with financial distress, leaving them open to a possible bankruptcy or even foreclosure. With the help of a “lawsuit loan”, plaintiffs do not need to suffer financial hardship. A lawsuit loan may be provided in the form of a lawsuit cash advance so the family may focus on healing, grieving and recovery.

Lawsuit funding gives plaintiffs instant access to cash without risk. “We offer an easy online application process with approvals often made within 24 – 48 hours of receiving case documentation from the plaintiff’s attorney,” said Daren Monroe, Litigation Funding Corporation’s representative.

There are no upfront fees, credit checks, or employment verification processes to complete. Funded plaintiffs only repay the “lawsuit loan” once the case successfully settles. If the case is lost, the funds are not repaid.

“Are you an injured plaintiff in a pending lawsuit? Do you feel lawsuit funding may help your financial situation? Call Lawsuit Funding at 1-866-548-3863. Dedicated staff are ready to assist you with fast and hassle-free lawsuit funding,” added Monroe.
