Austin, TX (Law Firm Newswire) October 19, 2021 – Texas is a large state with 683,533 miles of road and over 22 million registered vehicles. With these numbers, it is no wonder accidents are on the rise. Add in never-ending road construction and repair, heavy trucks hauling cargo and a booming oil industry, and the picture gets even gloomier.

Recently, there have been several accidents that never should have happened but for the lack of care and attention of the drivers involved. In one case, a police officer was injured in one of three crashes in the same location involving a work convoy.

The first accident occurred in the early morning hours in the westbound lanes of the Katy Freeway. The convoy was sideswiped by a vehicle that fled the scene. When the officer and an assessor came to the accident scene, another vehicle hit the officer and assessor, then left the scene. Both survivors were taken to a hospital.

In the wake of the first two accidents, the local fire department headed out to support blocking. When the engine arrived, it was rammed by a Ford F-150, whose driver was allegedly drunk.

In another accident, which turned out to be fatal, a 16-year-old was killed, and another individual was injured at a Buffalo Speedway intersection. A Dodge Cobalt was attempting to cross the northbound lanes of the Speedway when the Dodge Ram hit it. The collision pushed the pickup over a concrete curb into trees. A 16-year-old female, a passenger in the Dodge Ram, died at the scene of the crash. The 18-year-old driver was injured.

“If you or a loved one has been involved in a car accident and sustained injuries, or lost a loved one, give our office a call. We have decades of experience handling vehicle accident cases, as well as wrongful death cases,” indicated Brooks Schuelke, an Austin car accident attorney not involved in these cases.
