Real News is Better than Traditional Press Releases

The notion that press releases have to be stale announcement-oriented features is not always true. In fact, real news far out performs press releases.

Recently, Law Firm Newswire did an internal review of press releases submitted in May and June of this year. They looked at different styles, different regions, various practice areas, and topics to determine what makes some press releases do so much better than others. The answer was not surprising. People would rather read news than self serving press releases.

Increase Exposure by Sharing Your News on Social Networks

When your law firm announces something new, an event, or other news feature, you can help the performance of your release by sharing it on social networks.

Sending a link to your actual news release gives the story more credibility than just linking to your blog. Having a third party display your news can give weight to the story. Of course you do not have to link directly to the Law Firm Newswire page. Instead, you can go through the 220+ websites that pick up your news release from Law Firm Newswire and link to their website.

The Printed Word is not Dead, Just Illuminated on the Digital Screen

Newspapers are looking to survive in a world where information is everywhere. But “information” can not replace true journalism, which is why the New York Times has found considerable success with its iPad application and the Wall Street Journal with its strategy of posting the first few paragraphs of a story on its website and requiring a subscription to access full articles and features.

Press Releases Can Yield Temporary Page One Exposure in Google

When searching on Google, you may have noticed that the search results page has changed over the last few years. Gone are the days when you typed a search phrase and received a long list of paid and natural website rankings. Today, you have maps, news, images, blogs, social network feeds, and YouTube videos.

You can, of course, use this to your law firm’s advantage. For some search terms, Google will display a box toward the upper mid section of the search results page called “News for SEARCH PHRASE”. When writing this blog, we searched for “New York car accidents”. Three (more…)
