News is read via many outlets. Millions of newspapers are still printed and delivered every day. Magazines are published. Tablets and iPads retrieve news items related to the reader’s interest, cell phones sound off notifications, and emails are opened.

But nobody reads everything that is presented to them. They read what catches their eye.

To attract the more attention with your press release, really spend time with your headline. Think about the keywords someone used in Google News. Think about how your news relates to your target audience to grab their attention. A news article reader will convert because of an interesting headline and take the time to read the story.

The article should, of course, deliver on the promises made in the headline. Some hyperbole is acceptable in a news headline to grab attention but the actual story should be filled with useful information that covers the points mentioned in the title. If you go too far over the top with your headline and under deliver with your news article, the reader will feel as though they have been cheated, their time has been wasted, and now your law firm is related to that emotion.

Also, good headlines and strong stories get syndicated and shared, which helps attract new readers and works in favor of your search engine optimization goals.
