Your Law Firm’s Name Should be Second

Posted on: Jan 2, 2012

When creating a title for a press release, law firms often make the mistake of putting their firm name first in the news release title.

One of the most powerful publishers that will drive the most traffic to your press release is Google News. Google News will only display the first 65 characters (about 9 words) of your press release title. Your keywords should come first or risk being pushed out of Google News’ sight.

Here is an example:

Law Offices of Smith, Black & White Gets Award for Outstanding Family Law Representation in New York

Google News would more than likely see this:

Law Offices of Smith, Black & White Gets Award for Outstanding…

They miss the keyphrases entirely. Since you are interested in being seen by people searching for a “New York family law firm”, the above title would only serve people searching for the firm’s name.

New Title:
New York Family Law Firm Smith, Black & White Gets Award for Outstanding Representation

Now Google News will display this:
New York Family Law Firm Smith, Black & White Gets Award…

Your keyword gets exposure, your law firm name maintains a spotlight, and you encourage a little curiosity about the kind of award Smith, Black & White received.

Put your keywords first and law firm name second to get the most out of your law firm’s press release.
